This is a pair of short-handled spade-style salad servers in medium-brown coloured Queensland Maple. They are a one-of item handmade from re-claimed timber stock and are in stock and ready to ship.
Queensland Maple ranges in colour from almost white to medium-dark pink and often with pink or red lines running through the wood. The wood is light to medium weight and strong for its density. This pair of servers is made from wood in the medium range of colour and weight. There is also a small amount of shimmery figuring through the wood when caught in the right light.
The spade-style servers are short-handled and wide in the blade, offering lots of control even at arm’s length with maximum serving capacity. The shape allows them to work very effectively in small to medium size bowls as well as shallow bowls and on platters. Spade servers are also wonderful for serving a warm or hot salad straight from a pan or skillet.
These short salad servers have a very organic curvaceous shape and are extremely comfortable in the hands. They are also very ergonomic to use with several positions for holding and manipulating which feel immediately intuitive. Holding by the handles in an overhand fashion would always be considered as the normal usage option, but other really comfortable options include holding from below the neck of the handle in a pencil-type grip, or from above the top of the blade using the implements in a scoop sort of fashion.
Whichever way they are held, these small spade salad servers will always feel divine, function admirably and look sensational.
